What is an Endodontist?
What is an Endodontist?
- Endodontists are Dentists who have undertaken additional, specialised university training (a 3-year extended Masters or DCD degree) within the discipline of endodontics on top of their general dental training. In addition to providing specialist endodontic treatment and apical microsurgery, Endodontists are also skilled in managing dental trauma and diagnosing and managing orofacial pain.
- Endodontists use state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest technical standard of care is predictably achieved for their patients; this includes the use of dental operating microscopes, advanced disinfection and irrigation techniques, digital imaging and Cone-beam Computed Tomography (3D imaging) where necessary.
- Whilst General Dentists are able to perform root canal treatment; often, if you are referred to an Endodontist, it is likely your case is more complex than usual and requires specialist management.
