CBCT Scan
As part of our commitment to improving accessibility to health technology in the region, Townsville Endodontics have teamed up with MFI Radiology to offer a Cone-beam Computed Tomography imaging and reporting service to Townsville and surrounds. This is a fully bulk-billed service for all patients who hold a valid Medicare card and is also free of charge to referring dentists.
MFI Radiology (Maxillo Facial Imaging) is Australia’s leading specialist dental radiology provider, with five locations in Malvern, Melbourne, Mornington, Canberra and Perth, and offers a premium teleradiology reporting service to practices across Australia and New Zealand. MFI Radiology is led by a highly experienced team of Radiologists, including:

For Referrers
To refer a patient for a CBCT scan, please use our online referral portal below and ensure the patient’s name, contact number, DOB and reason for scan are included. Additional information regarding your preferences for the FOV (field of view) is preferable but not necessary, and Dr Rae will contact you if additional information is required prior to the scan being taken.
Once the DMFR report is ready, you will receive a zipped folder containing the full CBCT volume, CBCT viewer software, the DICOM images that can be imported into your usual radiology program, and the DMFR report, all via email. Please allow one week for this to be completed; we will endeavor to provide you with the imaging and report as soon as possible.
FAQs
- Is there any cost for the patient or the referring dentist?
– No, the service is fully bulk-billed for all patients who hold a valid
Medicare card, and there is no charge passed onto the referring
dentist for the service. - Does the patient need to be seeing Townsville Endodontics for treatment for the service to be used?
– No. Whilst this service is within Townsville Endodontics, any patient can be referred for a CBCT scan regardless of whether or not they are a patient of our clinic, and the reason for the scan does not need to be endodontic. - How long will it take for the scan to be ready?
– Please allow one week for the scan and DMFR report to be sent to you. This is to allow sufficient time for MFI’s experienced radiologists to provide a thorough report on the entire volume.
