I grew up in the Burdekin and completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University, graduating with awards for highest overall academic and clinical achievement and also for clinical excellence, and later completed my Doctor of Clinical Dentistry degree, specialising in Endodontics at The University of Melbourne in Victoria.

During my specialist training, I undertook three years of postgraduate research and completed my thesis on complex anatomical variations within the root canal system, developing a new classification system to assist in guiding the use of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) for pre-operative endodontic assessment, which was published in the Australian Dental Journal. I hold memberships with the ADA, RACDS, ASE and the IADT, and was recently awarded the James Cook University Outstanding Alumni Rising Star award for contributions to the dental and endodontic fields, particularly within the Northern and Central Queensland regions.

I am a passionate advocate for regional dental health and take great pride in ensuring a quality, comfortable and accessible endodontic experience for all patients attending our practice. I strongly believe in empowering patients and their referring dentists to be heavily involved in the direction of their care – visiting the dentist can create a bit of apprehension or anxiety, and this is a natural thing that most people experience. My commitment to patients is to ensure you fully understand the reason for your referral, the biology of your dental issue (in digestible but accurate terms!), the likely prognosis and expected outcome of your treatment and that you feel at ease and confident before any procedure is commenced. I am also devoted to ensuring you receive the best possible care – from your experience with reception all the way through to clinical treatment and follow-up – to make sure you feel supported, respected and hopefully a little less anxious about future dental care.

My commitment to referring dentists and our surrounding dental community is to ensure your patients are seen in a timely manner and provided the best possible care to achieve dental health, and to involve you in their care with comprehensive reports and imaging on examinations and treatment provided in our clinic. As a regional specialist, I am also committed to endodontic education and am driven by two philosophies; ensuring every patient has access to exceptional endodontic care by equipping every practitioner with the knowledge to provide it, and to lift as you climb. Together, these viewpoints have motivated the educational courses, lectures, mentorship and one-on-one observation opportunities I now routinely provide to our surrounding dental community to assist dentists and dental students in improving the level of endodontic care they can offer their patients.

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find me spending quality time with my two young children, my husband and our Aussie Shepherd, most likely at a park, a café or a Cowboys game!
