History and Experience
“I grew up in the Burdekin and completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University, graduating with awards for highest overall academic and clinical achievement and also for clinical excellence, and later completed my Doctor of Clinical Dentistry degree, specialising in Endodontics at The University of Melbourne in Victoria.
During my time in Victoria, I was regularly involved in endodontic education, teaching dental students at the University of Melbourne, and am a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Endo), the International Association for Dental Traumatology, the Australian Society of Endodontology and the Australian Dental Association (both state and federal branches). During my specialist training, I undertook three years of postgraduate research and completed my thesis on complex anatomical variations within the root canal system, resulting in the development of a new classification system to assist in guiding the judicious use of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) for pre-operative endodontic assessment.
I have spent several years working in both the emergency and endodontic departments of the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, which has allowed me to also become skilled in the management and care of patients with acute dental emergencies, orofacial pain and traumatic dental injuries. I understand the stress and anxiety experienced by those presenting with dental trauma and other emergencies, and I am very passionate about providing the highest standard of care and patient education to ensure I can achieve the best possible outcomes for all of my patients.
Before temporarily relocating to Victoria in 2020 to complete my specialist training, I had worked across private dental practices in both Emerald and Townsville, and I am very excited to be back serving the North Queensland community yet again. I have fondly called Townsville ‘home’ since 2016 with my husband, Mitchell, and my Australian Shepherd dog, Baxter. All of us have fallen in love with the friendly, laid-back, coastal lifestyle Townsville has to offer (and we’re die-hard North Queensland Cowboys fans), so we’ve since made the city ‘home’ for good.
I take the utmost pride in ensuring a quality, comfortable and accessible endodontic experience for all patients, and I am looking forward to helping you and your patients with any advice or endodontic treatment.”
